Miila Studios, Ltd. was
founded in 2000 by Michael Grubb & Laura Getzoff. Michael & Laura
have both studied hot glass forming techniques at the
prestigious
Studio of the Corning Museum of Glass in Corning NY.
Michael is a self taught pastel artist and has explored
exotic metal forming techniques for the past twenty years.
Originally trained as a painter at the Tyler school of
art in Pennsylvania, Laura became enthusiastic about
the many artistic aspects of tile while managing an upscale
tile showroom in Philadelphia. Michael’s experience
with exotic metals and Laura’s knowledge of color
and design is what encouraged the marriage of glass & metal
together in one tile. The unique aspect of using these
two contrasting elements has created our most successful
decorative tile line to date.
Miila Studios has developed innovative and unique products
in both the glass and metal mediums. We presently
manufacture several lines of handmade kiln fired
glass tile, as well as a line of hand cast metal
tile which is made from both solid bronze and solid
aluminum. A common comment from our clients is “We’ve
never seen anything like this before”. We are
constantly experimenting with new techniques and
materials through our custom projects, which are
how many of the works in our product line are born.
We enjoy the thought process and excitement that
goes into the development and introduction of each
